Baking Coconut Cake On The Beach In The NEW Firebox Ultra Cook Kit!

Awesome Camp Oven System! Baking While Camping Just Became A Piece Of Cake! I wanted to try baking a cake in the new Firebox Ultra Cook Kit using salt as thermal mass (between the layered pans) so I bought a yellow cake mix at the beginning of our Hawaii trip. After tasting some locally made coconut we realized how easy it would be to convert yellow cake mix Into a decadent rich coconut cake. I replaced the water with coconut milk and added a couple handfuls of shredded coconut. Tasted Great! Adding the salt as thermal mass worked even better than I expected. It tempers the heat as well as regulating heat fluctuations. I was using charcoal, which provides an even low heat, but I think a small flame could also be used without high risk of burning the bottom of whatever it is that you\'re baking. I think this is the simplest and most foolproof baking methods I\'ve tried. In this video I was using the eight inch Kit with the optional Shallow Camp Plate. The optional cutting board is also shown, but not used.
